Elf
15 variants
Elves tended to be fair and beautiful by human standards and graceful, though they were often frail as well. Their origins can be traced to the powerful Fey and Archfey that have now abandoned the material plane.
Otherworldly Grace
Elves stood on average 5′4″‒6′0″ and weighed 130‒170 lbs. Elves had pointed ears and had no hair on their body save eyebrows, eyelashes, and scalp hair. They are slight and have pointed ears that are the hallmark of their race. Unless an elf is near death they are ageless and beautiful.
Long Lived and Far Sighted
Elves commonly possessed strong but swiftly passing passions, being moved easily to laughter, anger, or misery and as quickly calmed. Partially due to their long lifespan (though not entirely, since many long-lived races acted differently), elves had difficulty taking some matters as seriously as other races.
While they have many gods, their main god, Corellon Larethian holds entry to the elvish heaven. Due to a past betrayal he does not allow elves to remain in heaven for long and is constantly reincarnating them. As such elves strive for personal perfection as to keep earning the right to be reincarnated over and over until Corellon Larethian can forgive the elves and let them rest. As such there is a set amount of elves throughout the multiverse which explains why elvish children are so rare as they must await an available soul to return to the mortal plane. These children are viewed with both reverence and superstition as they are closest to their god but are a sign elves have died in another land.
Elves were universally long-lived, achieving what they consider adulthood at 110 years of age and living for up to 700 and more years thereafter. While this is how mortals view their culture, elves reach maturity milestones based on what memories they relive during their trance or the reverie as is known by the elves. Children relive memories from heaven while they enter the reverie until around the age of 30. From around 30 to 100 years old they lose their primal memories and begin to acquire personal memories to relive. After 100 years old they seek adventure and a variety of experiences to fill their reverie. After 400 years old they begin to recall their past lives and lose interest in their current existence and sink deep into thought. At some point if an ancient elf is to die of old age they receive an omen from god as to when they are near death.
Free and Independent
Elves had an affinity for freedom more than anything else, preferring the way of unrestricted liberty to the restraints of civilized law and order. Liberty, both of one's self and of others, tended to be the greatest virtue in elven cultures. Elven governments tended to be very loosely organized, with small groups of elves accepting the legitimacy of a respected noble, who in turn acknowledged the authority of a monarchical king.
Throughout history the elves are viewed in two groups: the Gold Elves and the Dark Elves. The Gold Elves were every elf that was not the Dark Elves or Drow. They have been constantly at war with the rebellious and evil Drow who serve as antagonists throughout elven history.
