Fairy
2 variants
Whimsical, wild, and woven from the dreams of the Feywild, Fairies are living magic. Born in forests where twilight lingers and rivers sing lullabies, they carry the very essence of the Fey Realm in their hearts. Though small in size, their presence alters reality—an encounter with a Fairy can be a blessing, a trick, or both. Some journey into the Material Plane out of boundless curiosity, a need to escape courtly intrigue, or the mysterious call of ancient magic. Wherever they go, the world becomes a little stranger, a little brighter, and far more enchanted.
Glimmering Shapes of the Fey
No two Fairies are alike. Some have wings like moths dusted with starlight, others sport leaves for hair or eyes like glistening dew. Standing between one and three feet tall, they resemble miniature elves, sylvan spirits, or even wildflowers given form. Their appearance is an echo of the Feywild’s emotion-charged energy—radiant when joyous, shadowed when afraid. Many Fairies glow faintly in moonlight or shimmer with color when they laugh. Mortals often mistake them for sprites or pixies, but true Fairies are deeper creatures, forged from nature’s raw, primal wonder.
Songs Older Than Time
Though they may live for centuries, Fairies rarely measure life in years. They count time in stories told, dances shared, and secrets traded beneath silver leaves. Their society is rooted in emotion and expression—every song, prank, or gesture holds meaning. Trust is sacred; promises are binding. To a Fairy, breaking a vow is worse than death. Some dwell in small circles or "rings" bound by shared heartsongs, while others wander alone, seeking magic or mischief. The Material Plane fascinates many young Fairies, and some set off to leave behind the rigid politics of the Seelie and Unseelie courts.
Courts of Chaos and Charm
Fairy governance is as fluid and strange as the Feywild itself. Power is not taken—it is woven from charm, cleverness, and charisma. Among the Fair Folk, the most influential may be a century-old seer, a trickster with a silver tongue, or a wild spirit who dances through dreams. Most Fairies pay fealty to one of the great Fey Courts: the radiant Seelie, who cherish beauty and order, or the shadowed Unseelie, who value instinct and raw truth. Others reject these courts entirely, forming ephemeral circles of their own, ruled by whim, laughter, or prophecy. In all cases, authority among Fairies is ever-shifting, like moonlight on a river.
