Lacertus

The Lacertus could be called quirky on an average day, very friendly and fun on a good day, and a force of violence on a bad day. The Lacertus tend to wear their hearts on their sleeves and in spite of their terrifying appearance, are very kind and hospitable. They are surprisingly great chefs that enjoy cooking over fighting any day of the week.

Laidback and Hospitable

Lacertus, despite their terrifying looks, are laidback and kind. They take great pains to be hospitable hosts and provide thoughtful service and delicious food. They speak in a drawl when using Common and can be very hard to understand which is further exasperated with the mountain of slag they use to describe common things such as swamps being bayous, soup being jambalaya, and alligators being swamp puppies. Though they themselves take mild offense if they are in turn called swamp puppies.

Funnily enough when Lacertus come across friendly Halfling they begin to have a charming contest to see just who is more hospitable, which leads more often than not to a grand feast and a great night for all those lucky enough to be “judges” for the contest.

Terrifying Alligator Folk

The Lacertus are truly terrifying to behold. They stand at just shy of 8 ft tall and weigh 300 lbs though they walk with a slight hunch. They have the heads of a massive alligator with thick green/black scales covering their bodies with lighter tan scales covering their underbellies and underarms and under their legs. They have large tails that are 4-6 ft long. Hard ridges cover their brows, own their backs, and on their tails.

Can’t we Just Eat and Make Up?

Not many are aware, but deep in the swamp lie master chefs honing their skills since birth. The chosen habitat of Lacertus are usually abundant with the odd herbs and spices that they use in their exotic cooking and no Lacertus would be caught dead without their pouch of signature seasoning that they jealously guard from others. They are happiest when they can serve large helpings of food to a crowd of close friends or neighbors. They express their love with cooking, and the more they care for someone the more they’ll feed them. Though they are powerful foes they always jump at the chance to settle things peacefully and offer a huge banquet to smooth things over.
