Aldani (Lobsterfolk)

One might not think noble or wise when thinking of a lobster, but the Aldani put many kings to shame with their noble bearing and many judges to shame with their evenhandedness. They eschew wealth and live chivalrous lives deep within rivers they call home.

Knightly and Scholarly Crustaceans

The Aldani are humanoid lobsters that are covered in thick chitinous shells with a large claw and a smaller claw. Their faces have two long eyestalks but otherwise are human-like and they walk on powerful front feet with two smaller feet that support their tail.

Aldani are honorable negotiators but when pressed they will fight to the death. They value culture and civility and hold themselves to a high bar of respect and chivalry. Those that dare invoke their ire find a steadfast enemy that will pursue them to the ends of the earth while adhering to knightly codes of honor. Even their enemies see them as worthy and respectable adversaries.

Noble and Intelligent Peacekeepers

The Aldani have a peaceful society where they avoid conflict whenever possible. On the rare occasion a dispute arises, the Aldani organize a tournament to decide the outcome. This way of settling conflict is only between Aldani with no outsiders being offered the same courtesy. When dealing with other races the Aldani seek peace first and if that fails, they try to frighten them away before resorting to violence.

Spurners of Greed

At the core of Alandi philosophy is a rejection of worldly possessions beyond their needs. This comes from a curse the first Aldani incurred when they overfished a river beloved of the god Ubtao. The curse turned them from human fishers to the lobsterfolk they are now. Even when cursed it is said they meekly accepted their new life and did the best they could. As such the Aldani collect wealth exclusively to bribe outsiders who threaten them.
