Alaghi
The powerful visage of a Bugbear or Yeti with the peaceful lifestyle of a Druid or ascetic. The Alaghi are misunderstood beings who are the poster race of not judging a book by its cover. These harmonious, mindful beings live lives that any saint would applaud.
Peaceful Minds Fiercesome Bodies
Standing 6 ft tall with bearlike faces, large fangs, and vicious claws on their hands and feet the Alaghi are terrifying to behold. But on closer inspection their taloned hands hang peaceful at their sides and their emerald eyes have a kind and disarming glint.
They are stocky beings covered in thick hair and long arms that reach nearly midcalf ending in large hands. They weigh an impressive 300 lbs with most of it being taunt muscle through hard labor cultivating and maintaining nature. They are omnivores that carefully hunt what they need and gather only what they require from the land around them.
Demure and Kind
The Alaghi are thoughtful and seek to live in harmony with nature and others. They only take up arms to defend loved ones or protect nature. Even if an individual is threatened it would take some cruel treatment to make them choose violence. They are naturally stealthy and seem to vanish into the terrain and move with almost preternatural silence. Given the chance they would rather slip away than fight and silently observe than confront anyone.
Being so attuned to nature the Alaghi fear the unnatural and are highly superstitious. The Undead and metalworks are especially unnerving and unsettling to the Alaghi to the point most Alaghi would feel dread if forced to wear metal armor or wield weapons of metal.
Migratory Tribes and Tragic Misunderstandings
Alaghi form tribes that are tight knit regardless of familial bonds. They wander through many areas according to the season so as to not overburden any one area. They are so thoughtful that Good and Neutral gods and primordial powers favor the Alaghi and allow Druids to be plentiful among them. They are found to be thoughtful and even delightful to those that look past their frightful visages, even to the point where sadly many a tribe has been taken advantage of.
Tragically, each Alaghi has seen prejudice for their physical similarities with their distant cousins the Yetis and even more distantly related relatives the Bugbears. It is common to see maimed and scarred Alaghi who were attacked by frightened or malicious individuals before they could explain their peaceful purpose.
