A cog in a colony, a piece or a majestic greater whole. United they can withstand anything, alone they are nothing. Law is immutable and unbreakable. Abeils are a jealous and proud people that work to expand their domains and extend their influence to the ends of the world.
The Busy Bee People
From the moment they are born an Abeil knows their purpose and gets to work. They are orderly, obedient, and hard working. While an Abeil is part of a colony they rarely exhibit a strong or even a varied personality. An Abeil in exile has to become their own person and work to find their new place and purpose in the world.
Abeils are a combination of elf and bee characteristics and every Abeil is a female with exceptionally rare males who only live to breed with and serve their queen. They have elvish faces with black faceted eyes and antennae and slender bodies with black and yellow stripes. Each Abeil has stinger and translucent gossamer wings. They are tall people with Soldiers being 10 ft tall and Vassals being 7 ft tall.
A Cast Society
Each Abeil has a place they are born to and embrace. Soldiers fight and Vassals work. A Soldier would not want to do menial labor without an order and a Vassal would not want to fight without an order. They all have their roles and instinctively work together to form their complex society centered on their queen.
Abeils live to expand their domains. Their queens are absorbed in rearing juvenile queens to then split off into more colonies. A queen will never leave their domain and the highly rare male will never leave their chosen queen. Abeils have no sense of religion or even a sense of faith. They live and die performing their task to the best of their ability. They care not for other races unless they are banished, in which case they will cling to a willing group and serve their new role with diligence.
Independence Means Exile
If an Abeil becomes independent or fails to follow the law, they will quickly become exiled. Any Abeil on their own is in essence a rebel or criminal. Though a rebellious Abeil would be viewed as tame and meek and a criminal Abeil would be viewed as law abiding and thoughtful. An exiled Abeil spends their time finding a new niche to fill and is tentative but excited to explore their newfound individuality.
