Beastmen

Dwelling in trees and striking seemingly from nowhere, Beastmen are terrifying predators. They are almost completely resistant to magic to the point that they do not even believe it exists nor can they use it in most cases. They have a quiet superiority about them as they view themselves as highly sophisticated especially when they face so called mages shout and wave while nothing happens before they are cut down.

Green Furred Warriors

Beastmen are humanoid creatures roughly similar to short and slender humans, but covered in a green-coloured fur. Ordinary Beastmen were on the smaller side, around 5 ft in height. They have two layers of fur, an outer layer of green and an inner of black, as they move, the inner black layer instinctively raises and sags, creating patterns in their fur which gives them a natural camouflage in foliage. Skillful hunters, the Beastmen are well adapted to survival in their forests, themselves only hunted by the most cunning and powerful creatures. Although omnivores, they themselves practice no form of agriculture.

Tree Dwelling Antisocials

Due to their natural camouflaging fur they seldom wear clothing or ornamentation of any sort. Their native language is quite intricate, and involves spoken elements, facial expressions, gestures, and changes in their fur-patterns. Thus while non-Beastmen can learn the words, expressions, and gestures, they would still be unable to truly communicate without somehow reproducing the color changes. For the Beastmen this also means that all other languages they may learn seem simple and even primitive, and gives them a sense of superiority above other speakers.

They spend a vast majority of their lives in trees, whether hunting from trees or dwelling in their treehouse villages or just nestled in the crook of a high tree for a quick nap. While they are fine on the ground it leaves them with a sense of unease and it is common to see a terrestrial Beastman gazing wistfully at the treetops high around them or at the tops of buildings if they were in an urban setting.

Potent Magic Resistance

For an unknown reason Beastmen have an incredible resistance to magic. It is so powerful that most Beastmen do not even believe that magic exists. For this reason, most Beastmen do not believe in things they cannot see, hear, or touch. Their bodies repel magic so thoroughly that they cannot be born with magical talent. In practice this means that they are unable to learn magic through Feats, through subclasses such as Arcane Trickersters, and through birth such as being a Sorcerer. It would be virtually impossible for a Beastman to become a Full Caster and highly unlikely to have a Beastman become a Half Caster.
