Hippo Builds
Giff are 8-9 ft tall and are well muscled. They have tusks like a hippo and their skin can be gray, black, or gold. They often have a large amount of tattoos detailing their accomplishments and notable achievements. Their heads and snouts are covered in plates of chitin.
Tidy, Orderly, and Neat
Giff are always in uniform or in orderly clothing suiting their tasks. If they wear armor they spend their free time maintaining it and their weapons. They revel in strict chains of command and take pleasure in receiving and fulfilling orders. They love things that make sense with magic not being on the things that make sense to the average Giff.
Smokepowder and Firearms
The Giff possess a near unique mastery of Smokepowder and its mysterious production methods along with the advanced metalworking techniques to make firearms. Depending on the group of Giff they could have learned this from their species' conception as innate knowledge, a gift from a god of fire and ingenuity, or it was the product of millennia of study and experimentation. Regardless, Smokepowder weapons are an innate part of Giff culture and their way of war with even young Giff possessing several firearms as a matter of course.

Traits
Astral Spark
Your psychic connection to the Astral Plane enables you to mystically access a spark of divine power, which you can channel through your weapons. When you hit a target with a simple or martial weapon, you can cause the target to take extra Force damage equal to your Proficiency Bonus. You can use this trait a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus, but you can use it no more than once per turn. You regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Firearms Mastery
You have a mystical connection to firearms that traces back to the gods of the Giff who delighted in such weapons. You have proficiency with all firearms and ignore the loading property of any firearm. In addition, attacking at long range with a firearm doesn't impose disadvantage on your attack roll. (This manifests in the Crossbow feat in situations where Firearms aren’t appropriate for the campaign setting.)
Hippo Build
You have a bonus to STR based ability checks and STR saving throws equal to your CON modifier (Minimum 1). In addition, you count as one size larger when determining your carrying capacity and the weight you can push, drag, or lift.
