Hai Nu
The honorable Hai Nu are beings of the sea that fight with zeal and keep to themselves. Nothing is more important to a Hai Nu than their families and oaths they take. Those that cross them will face the fury of the deep as they seek vengeance.
Honorable and Solitary
Hai Nu prefer to be left to their own devices. They are loath to start conflict but if they are attacked they are terrifying foes that attack relentlessly. If they overpower a foe they offer them an opportunity to surrender and if they accept they have them make an oath. If they break the oath and cause them further harm they will return with horrific vengeance and destroy the oath breaker and all that they hold dear.
Born to the Sea
Hai Nu are lean yet strong humanoids. Their body is covered in fine fur of alternating shades of blue, green, and yellow. Their hands and feet are webbed, and they have short claws at the ends of their fingers and toes. Hai Nu have a row of gills extending down both sides of their neck. Their eye sockets are encircled with a bony ridge. They are so perfectly suited to the sea that water itself refuses to harm them, making them immune to water based spells.
Servants of the Sea Lord
Each Hai Nu settlement is protected by a being they call the Sea Lord. The Sea Lord could be a demi-god, sea god, or powerful aquatic creature such as a metallic dragon They collect treasure and offer it to them as a tribute and in turn the Sea Lord protects them. Hai Nu that leave their settlements are vulnerable and have to swear to not call upon their Sea Lord lest they bring calamity on their home.
