House Spirit

5 variants

House Spirits are Tiny, shy Fey that are unobtrusive and mostly helpful. They are fair beings that only take what they need and believe in rewarding good and making evildoers less rewarded. Their size makes it nearly impossible to be self-sufficient so they rely on the “Large Folk”.

Tiny Beings in a Big World

Being tiny is hard. Even small things for others are obstacles or even deadly. One cannot fight the “Large Folk” only coexist with them in an unobtrusive way. Though natural beasts do not target House Spirits on account of their Fey connection, there are countless threats to a House Spirit that is without a household.

Everything Must be Balanced

Due to chronic shyness it is nearly impossible for a House Spirit to ask for a favor or for much needed food and a place to stay. Therefore, the little that they take must be repaid. Each Household Spirit has a different method of service, whether it's leatherworking, information gathering, serving as lookouts, etc. When something is taken, something must be given back. It is truly unthinkable for a House Spirit to steal without compensation, and they believe in generous compensation for the miniscule amount of supplies they must take.

Revolving Around a Household

Their household is everything. A good household is a blessing and a malicious household could mean a living hell or death. House Spirits basically never leave their chosen household until the inhabitants of the house die or they are called upon by a new household. The household’s survival means their survival so they must do their best to serve them.
