Troglodyte

Troglodytes are savage brutes that rule by strength. The bigger and stronger they grow the more respect they gain. If they come across someone bigger and stronger then they get the respect. They hunt and hunt as they seek to hone their skills and bask in blood and viscera. They are famous for their horrific scent born of their natural musk and disgusting living conditions and habits.

Sadistic Hunters

Troglodytes take sadistic pleasure in mercilessly hunting weaker sentient beings before dragging them back to their caves to be eaten. They are a constantly warring race, convinced the world is full of creatures seeking to kill them, a self-fulfilling prophecy caused by their constant raiding. Their failure to plan for the future leads them to conduct regular raids on nearby settlements. They are rejected by most races for their savagery, stench, and relative stupidity, and so take comfort in their isolation from other races and in destroying other sentient beings. There is always warring amongst Troglodytes, whether between tribes or within. Despite this, they treat members of their own tribe like their family members, although individual friendships were somewhat rare.

Reptilian Humanoids

Troglodytes are shorter than humans on average, standing 5‒6 ft tall with spindly but muscular arms, squat legs and long, slender tails. Their bodies are coated with rough leathery scales, and normally possess a grayish-brown skin tone, although they also have the chameleon-like ability to change their coloration. They have lizard-like heads, which on males are crowned with frills that extend from their foreheads to their necks. Their black beady eyes struggle to see in the light, and their claws and fangs are obvious to those who saw them.

Rule by Strength Alone

They only respect strength and toughness, all of their leaders are proven in countless hunts and battles. Even the strong though are constantly being eyed from afar with many waiting for them to show even the slightest hint of weakness. They have an ingrained predisposition for servitude with them seeking to either serve the strong or be the strong and gather servants.
