Vampire Kin

3 variants

Dignified aristocrats, terrifying blood suckers, all apply to Vampires and their kin. Vampire Kin are the offspring of a true Vampire and a mortal parent, caught in between the mortal world and the lower planes of death. Where the conception would normally be impossible, it was made so by a bargain struck by the two lovesick partners, usually with the Archfey Kannoth or a similarly vampiric divine patron.

Diluted Vampiry

Vampire Kin cannot make more Vampires but still have the same constraints of Vampires. They have no shadow, no reflection, and abide by the same rules as Vampires such as not being to enter homes unless invited. They still hunger for life and prefer the life of your origin race. They cannot pass on vampirism as their powers are too diluted.

Power of Symbols

Vampires and their kin both seek and fear symbolism. Stakes, mirrors, all that affects them due to the power of symbolism and belief. As Vampires age they develop mythos and new symbolism to define their being and their power. The power of symbolism is so powerful that their bodies remain in their original state as they identity it as. Their hair and nails stop growing and even new tattoos will fade.

They fear discovery as what is familiar to them is powerful and helps them keep the remains of their humanity. They become entrenched in tradition and are often aristocrats in nature. As they are hunted and feared, age becomes an honorific with being called young or inexperienced being a dire insult.

Hunger for Life

Vampires and their kin need blood to survive. The closer to their origin race the better, the further away the more unpalatable. If Vampires and their kin can drink blood daily they are perfectly humanoid aside from their vampiric weaknesses, even having a heartbeat and being warm to the touch. Each day after they are without blood the more Undead they become. Vampires can barely stomach food whereas their kin can eat food as normal.
