Yurian (Crab Folk)

From Ogre to Yurian, Crab Folk are creations of powerful Hag to serve them. The transformation radically changes them into hulking crab-like monsters bound to the Hag. They go from raging brutes to peaceful servants as their minds and bodies are warped.

Unfortunate Creation

Yurians are created from Ogres by a powerful Green Hag. The change robs them of all of their previous features as they fuse with a crab provided in the ritual. They then serve as powerful servants of their master unless their master is slain or the Hag becomes too greedy and makes enough that the Yurian are able to overthrow their ruler.

Humanoid Crabmen

Crab Folk are humanoid in shape with the heads and pincers of crabs. They also possess a strong carapace that provides natural armor. Male shells vary from bright red to bright orange, while female shells vary between black, reddish brown, greenish red. Their heads have eyestalks topped with black eyes like orbs. They have massive main claws only suitable for combat and delicate secondary claws they use for day to day tasks.

Peaceful Unless Triggered

Due to their unfortunate creation their minds were shattered. They went from brutish Ogres to peaceful and humble Crab Folk. Due to unknown triggers or stimuli often interposed by the Hag creator, they can become violent and consumed by rage, often up to six days at a time. If they were freed from their master, the deep seated commands of their creator remain in spite of their new nature. A common trigger is a drive to collect silver for their master to perform rituals known only to the Hag.
