Lore

A studious soul that seeks to inform others of grand truths and humble facts to help and entertain others as they perfect their art of storytelling. Lore Bards are often traveling to hear a certain tale from a certain person to get the details just right so that their story can truly resonate.

Subclass Features

Lv 3

Bonus Proficiencies

You are well versed in a number of subjects. You gain proficiency with three skills of your choice.

Cutting Words

You learn how to use your wit to distract, confuse, and otherwise sap the confidence and competence of others. After a creature that you can see within 60 ft of you makes an attack roll, an ability check, or a damage roll, you can use your reaction to expend one of your uses of Bardic Inspiration, rolling a Bardic Inspiration die and subtracting the number rolled from the creature's roll potentially making it fail (This feature cannot reduce damage to less than zero).

Lv 6

Magical Discoveries

You unearthed new spells that you are able to use. You learn two spells of your choice from the Cleric, Druid, or Wizard spell list. You always have the spells chosen prepared. You can only choose cantrips or spells of which you have the appropriate spell slot of the same level. You can change the chosen spells whenever you could change your prepared spells.

Innate Knowledge

Through your extensive travels and studies you can cast Identify times per long rest equal to your CHA modifier (Minimum 1) without expending a spell slot.

Lv 14

Peerless Skill

You rarely fail on tasks you set out to complete. When you make an ability check or attack roll, you can expend one use of Bardic Inspiration. Roll a Bardic Inspiration die and add the number rolled to your ability check or attack roll. You can choose to do so after you roll the die for the ability check, but before the DM tells you whether you succeed or fail. If the roll fails the Bardic Inspiration is not expended.

Loremaster

Once per combat as an action you can attempt a DC 8 + the creature’s CR Arcana, History or Nature check provided it isn’t a Humanoid. On a success you learn a fact about the target such as any damage Vulnerabilities or spell(s) in its repertoire as determined by the DM. In general one impactful fact for every 3 points more than the CR (Minimum 1).
