Armand

Small and tough, the Armand’s rough exterior hides a thoughtful, family centered being. The life an Armand leads would make any monastery bow their heads in reverence as the people as a whole have evolved to see all things as belonging to a grand community to be shared as needed.

Stout Desert Dwellers

Armands are small nomadic wanderers that are covered in thick plate, resembling humanoid armadillos. They stand at 3 1/2 ft to 4 ft tall and weigh around 150 lbs. They are well suited to the harsh environments they dwell in, staying underground during the hottest parts of the day and using their keen eyesight at night to hunt.

Tight Knit Ascetics

In the unforgiving desert Amands forge tight knit tribes with few members. The adults all have a vote and the community believes in all possessions being part of the tribe. An Armand who ventures out into the outside world is often accused as a pick pocket as they truly have no sense of individual ownership. Vice versa an Armand will happily impart what they have to even passing acquaintances if they think it would benefit them.

Experience is the Greatest Treasure

With a philosophy of group ownership of all property, the Armands value experience and knowledge above any physical object. The nomads often leave comfortable locations in search of new experiences and knowledge. A new landmark, creature, or plant would be celebrated and studied by the tribe. Death is viewed as a tragedy as it is the end of one's journey of gaining experiences.

Armands would rather retreat underground or run whenever possible to keep their journey going. If they are pressed they will ferociously defend their journey even to the point of mauling enemies with their claws and biting them like a feral animal. Those that wander on their own and are considered lost but return with knowledge are called wise ones and are highly respected and end up in leadership positions within the tribe.
