Shaped by Draconic Gods or the Dragons themselves, the first dragonborn hatched from an Egg as a unique race, made to combine the best of dragon and humanoid. To this day, as Dragonborn walk the Material Plane, they are often met with awe, fear or incomprehension.
Come from Greatness
Lacking wings or a tail, Dragonborn resemble dragons standing erect in a humanoid form. Their scales resemble the vibrant hue of the true dragons they share a nature with, though some dragonborn have a duller appearance. With the blood of a particular dragon type running in their veins, dragonborn share the innate breath weapon ability.
Forged in Flame
Though centuries of intermarriage have mixed and dulled the scales of some dragonborn, most keep the color and luster of the dragons of their bloodline, something these people wear with pride. Not as long-lived as their dragon counter-parts, dragonborn reach maturity around fifteen years of age, with an average life expectancy of eighty.
Dragonborn can be a formidable opponent, with their natural breath weapon, long talons, and armored appearance. Some serve as servants to true dragons, while others become warriors, and others still set into the world to find their purpose. Regardless of what walk of life each dragonborn chooses, their honor and loyalty to clan and kin is unmatched. Though dragonborn will do everything in their power to be self-sufficient, they recognize help is sometimes needed, and find no shame in asking for it, though they will turn to their clan, and clans will turn to each other before turning to other races or the gods.

To many Dragonborn, the clan is the most important, more important than life itself at times. A Dragonborn’s conduct reflects directly on the clan they came from, and bringing dishonor to the clan can result in expulsion and exile. To be a well contributing part of the clan is to be an honorable member of society for a dragonborn, and most who must leave their clan for one reason or another continue to adhere to these ideals instilled in them from hatching.
Dragonborn have a drive for self-improvement which is reflected in the self-sufficiency of the race. Dragonborn as a whole strive for excellence, valuing skill and mastery in their endeavors. Hating to fail, Dragonborn will push themselves to great extremes before giving up, and will make the perfection of a particular skill their lifetime goal. Dragonborn who encounter others of other races with a similar commitment to mastering their trade will immediately have a degree of respect for their dedication to their craft.
