Magmin

Magmen are mischievous beings made of lava. They are dependent on flames and set things ablaze wherever they go. Like all elementals they have a deep connection to fire and the Elemental Plane of Fire that is their birthplace.

Like Fire They Burn Indiscriminately

Magmins are not particularly intelligent and remain oblivious to the harm their abilities pose to other races on the material plane. Both vexing and capricious, Magmen enjoy watching material creatures flee the environment they considered painless. Despite their love of chaos and destruction, they are not malicious in their burning, and do not properly understand the deadly nature of their flames. The utterly alien concept that fire was linked to pain, and their preoccupation with having fun leads them to view mortal reactions as slapstick. It is practically impossible to coerce them not to set things alight, with the only nonviolent solution being to bribe them with other targets or food. In rare cases where they are unable to return to the Elemental Plane of Fire they can be forced to coexist in their new world after several years of hard work and harder lessons.

Small Fire Elementals

Magmen are 3–4 ft tall and weigh 400 pounds. They are squat and stubby humanoids, seemingly sculpted from hardened magma with gleeful yet mischievous smiles. Underneath their shells, they seem to be composed of flowing lava and seething flame. Each Magmin radiates a small amount of heat and light, with small bursts of flames constantly erupting from the surface of their skin. If out of lava for too long, Magmen would soon stiffen and harden, becoming immobile.

Dependent on Fire

Magmen are part of the flames and need it to exist. A playable Magmin is a variant more suitable to living on different planes and is less dependent on fire. Even so a Magmin is chilly in temperatures less than 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit. They prefer to stay in warm places and consume choice pieces of magma and odd minerals that they absorb directly into their skin. Like fire they do need oxygen and consume a great variety of things to fuel their flames. While they do not specifically need to consume food, the sensation is especially pleasurable to them.

Immunity

Fire

Ignited Illumination

As a bonus action, you can set yourself ablaze or extinguish your flames. While ablaze, you shed Bright Light in a 10 ft radius and Dim Light for an additional 10 ft. While ablaze things you touch that are not being carried or are not magical catch fire and any non magic items you are wearing or holding melt or are burned to ash. The time it takes for this to happen depends on the item.

Fire Affinity

You can increase any Fire damage you deal by half your CON modifier (Minimum 1) rounded down.

Fire Dependency

If you do not rest in fire or lava for at least ten minutes every 12 hours, you gain 1 level of Exhaustion. After three levels of Exhaustion this way, you become Petrified until you are placed in lava for days equal to the amount you were Petrified.

Shed Shell

You have a shell of hardened magma that keeps you safe but also limits your fire. You can use an action to shed your shell. While without your shell your AC is reduced to 10 and you are in your ablaze state. In this state any creature that touches you or makes a melee attack on you takes 1D8 Fire damage and any damage you deal based on your Fire Affinity feature is doubled. You regrow your shell in one hour in flames or lava or after a long rest.

Death Burst

When you die, you explode in a burst of fire and magma. Each creature within 10 ft of you must make a DC 8 + your CON modifier (Minimum 1) + your Proficiency Bonus DEX saving throw, taking D6 Fire damage equal to your proficiency bonus on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. Flammable objects that aren't being worn or carried in that area are ignited.
