Accidental
A series of accidents, misfortunes, and misunderstandings have led many to believe you are a hero and have now become one by default much to your dismay or delight if you feel you are lucky. Fate has some champions and others that just seem to always be in the wrong place at the “right” time. Perhaps a real hero died along with his enemy and you were hailed as the slayer or you happened to look like a hero who was slain and you were chosen to keep the position of hero alive.
Accidental Journey: An Accidental Hero’s Journey is the least strict of them with great latitude. The main tenet of their Journey is to do their best and keep moving forward.
Subclass Features
Heroic Presence
The Accidental Hero always seems to “fail upwards” with their own actions becoming heroic whether they want to or not. Creatures tend to instinctively like you and think of you in the best light. When you fail a CHA based skill check, roll 1D4 and on a 4 the check becomes a success. When a creature succeeds a CHA based skill check on you, roll 1D4 and on a 1 the check becomes a failure.
Limit Break- Topsy Turvy
The Accidental Hero’s Limit Break allows you to overcome your poor luck for a period by turning Luck on its head, then Luck rebounds in order to normalize itself after time. You can activate your Limit Break as an action and for turns equal to your Proficiency Bonus, when you fail a D20 test, you succeed it instead and if you succeed a D20 test you fail it instead. In addition, when you roll a 1 on damage you roll an additional damage die. During this period you can use your bonus action to give yourself disadvantage on a D20 test.
Backlash: For the next minute you enter a debuff time where your critical fail range is increased by 4 (1-5).
You can use this feature once per long rest.
Heroic Spirit
The power of the luck your Heroic Spirit draws to you, protects you as you continue along your journey. When a creature hits you with an attack, you can use your reaction to cause the attack to miss then, if there is another target within 5 ft of you, the attack hits one target of the attacker’s choice using the original “to hit” value. You can use this feature a number of times per long rest equal to your Proficiency Bonus.
True Limit Break- Lucky Streak
You have reached a point in your journey when your power may not be sufficient to face greater threats and your Limit Break evolved to aid you. When you use your Limit Break feature you gain the following feature: When you have a critical success on a D20 test, you can give yourself disadvantage on the next D20 test you make in the next minute or give an ally within 30 ft of you advantage on their next D20 test for the next minute. If the critical success was an attack, you may make an additional attack this turn.
You may use your Limit Break feature twice per long rest.
Legendary Attack- True Hero Strike
Finally able to acknowledge that they were a Hero, the true power they held can be unleashed in a single attack. You can use your action to make one attack, the attack defies the odds and becomes a critical hit that deals an additional 6D10 Radiant damage.
You regain the use of this feature after using your Limit Break feature and after the Backlash ends.
