Dragon Master

Heroes that have had their journeys touched by dragons become Dragon Masters. They are one of the rarest Heroes as the dragon who chose them creates both a Hero for dragons and a tool for their destruction. The journey of a Dragon Master centers on their relationship with dragons. The noblest Dragon Masters use wisdom to punish evil dragons and protect good dragons while some must take up the role of executioner and cleanse the world of Dragonkind.

Draconic Journey: A Dragon Master Hero’s Journey centered on Dragonkind. Their tenet is to face the might of Dragons and heed not fear.

Subclass Features

Lv 3

Hero’s Companion

The dragon who charged you with your noble calling imparted a piece of itself and bound it to your soul. Your Heroic Companion is a smaller version of the dragon that made you a Dragon Master. Roll 1D6 then 1D10 to determine the type of dragon and the foretelling of how its bond will impact your journey.

Your Heroic Companion is friendly to you and your companions and obeys your commands. See this creature's game statistics in the Heroic Companion stat block, which uses your Proficiency Bonus (PB) in several places.

In combat, your Heroic Companion shares your initiative count, but it takes its turn immediately after yours. The only action it takes on its turn is the Dodge action, unless you take a bonus action on your turn to command it to take another action. That action can be one in its stat block or some other action. If you are Incapacitated, our Heroic Companion can take any action of its choice, not just Dodge.

If reduced to zero hit points, your Heroic Companion is revived within 5 ft of you on the next morning.

Limit Break- Dragon Mantle

The power of the dragon is yours to command. You can use an action to cloak yourself and your weapon(s) in the chosen element of the dragon who chose you. You gain temporary hit points equal to your Hero level plus your CHA modifier (Minimum 1) and for the next minute if a creature within 5 ft of you hits you with a melee attack the creature takes damage equal to twice your Proficiency Bonus of the Elemental Affinity’s damage type. In addition, for the duration of this effect the first attack you make each turn deals 1D6 additional damage of your Elemental Affinity.

Dragon’s Breath: Once during this effect’s duration you can use your action to unleash a bout of dragon’s breath forcing each creature in 60 ft line or a 30 ft cone to make a DEX saving throw DC 8 + your CHA modifier (Minimum 1) + your Proficiency Bonus and on a failed save takes 2D10 damage of your Elemental Affinity or half as much on a successful save.

Backlash: At the end of the duration of this effect you become dazed as the power of the dragon leaves you leaving you Incapaciated for 1D3 turns.

You can use your Limit Break feature once per long rest.

Lv 7

Heroic Spirit

Your Heroic Spirit manifests itself as a marking on your body in the shape of a stylized version of the dragon that gave you your Noble Calling. The marking designates you as a friend to dragons aligned with you and as a fearsome foe to dragons that are against or unaligned with you. Dragons who see you as a friend will aid you in a reasonable manner including giving you a small gift but short of aiding you directly in a fight. Dragons who are against you or are ambivalent towards you see you as someone to be cautious of and if they engage you they suffer a penalty to hit you equal to your CHA modifier (Minimum 1).

Dragon Slayer

The path of the Hero has placed many dragons in it. You are given the power to fight those dragons and other mighty foes. You deal an additional 1D8 damage to Dragons and Large or bigger creatures.

Lv 15

True Limit Break- Dragon Wings

You tap further into the resources of draconic power at your disposal by virtue of being a Dragon Master. When you use your Limit Break you have a Flying speed equal to your movement speed as spectral wings made of the energy of your Elemental Affinity spring forth from your mantle of power. In addition, the damage you deal with this feature is increased to 2D6.

You can use your Dragon’s Breath attack twice per Limit Break duration and the distance of the attack is doubled and it deals an additional 1D10 damage.

You can use your Limit Break feature twice per long rest.

Lv 20

Legendary Attack- Dragon’s Fury

You channel all the draconic power you have into a single explosive attack. You make one melee or ranged attack supercharged with elemental power.

If you make a melee attack the attack’s range becomes a 60 ft line or a 30 ft arc forcing each creature in range to make a DEX saving throw DC 8 + your CHA modifier (Minimum 1) + your Proficiency Bonus taking 8D8 damage of your Elemental Affinity or half as much on a successful save.

If you make a ranged attack the projectile explodes in a 40 ft diameter forcing each creature in range to make a DEX saving throw DC 8 + your CHA modifier (Minimum 1) + your Proficiency Bonus taking 8D8 damage of your Elemental Affinity or half as much on a successful save.

You regain the use of this feature after using your Limit Break feature and after the Backlash ends.
