Despot
Systematically removing others from power has led to the birth of a slough of strategies for Despot Warlords. They rise from the misfortune of others and despise being under the control of others. Harsh and cruel, Despots learned that dissidents must be quelled and all loose ends must be wrapped up in order to ensure complete and total victory.
| No Retreat | For you and any number of willing creatures you expend on Tactical Die each. Each creature targeted has their movement speed reduced to 0 ft for turns up to the result of the Tactical Die (Any target can end this effect with a bonus action). For the duration of this feature, each target has an increased critical hit range of one and deals an additional seven damage on a critical hit. |
|---|---|
| Make an Example | You can choose a target you can see within 30 ft of you and expend 2 Tactical Dice. Until the end of the target’s next turn, attacks have advantage on them. |
| Leave No Survivors | You can choose any number of targets within 30 ft of you and expend a Tactical Die for each of them. The chosen targets deal additional damage equal to the highest result of the Tactical Dice to creatures below half hit points until the end of their next turn. |
Subclass Features
Specific Tactics
Your Warlord Method opens a world of new tactics to crush your opponents and aid your allies. You can choose from the following Tactics in addition to previous ones.
Tactics
Merciless
Your drive gives your strikes greater force the closer you feel you are to victory. You deal an additional two damage to creatures with less than full hit points and an additional four damage to creatures with less than half their hit points remaining with your unarmed strikes and melee attacks.
Rage Against Control
Your drive and mental fortitude combine to make a devastating mental weapon against those that seek power over you. When a creature attempts to Charm you through a spell or ability you can use your reaction to deal them Psychic damage equal to half your Warlord level rounded down.
Cut Loose Ends
Loose ends, end lives. That is the cardinal rule for those that take the path of Despotism. Whenever a creature takes the Disengage or Dash action within 5 ft of you, you can use your reaction to make an unarmed strike or melee attack.
Crush Resistance
You imbue your attacks with a crushing mental attack. On a critical hit the creature has disadvantage on attacks on their next turn.
Topple the Mighty
You have advantage on attacks on the creature within 60 ft of you with the most hit points and have an increased critical hit range of one when attacking them.
Ruler With an Iron Fist
Absolute power means absolute control. Whenever a creature you designate within 30 ft of you fails an attack roll or ability save they take Psychic damage equal to your INT modifier (Minimum 1).
