Fate Tempter

Fate Tempters take the concept of gambling to the next level. Other Gamblers dabble with fate, Fate Tempters poke, prod, and provoke fate. They seek to bolster their luck and mess with the luck of others. “Tip the scales as much as possible” is the moniker of many Fate Tempters. It is common to see Fate Tempters talking to themselves for some reason though they always dodge questions about it.

Subclass Features

Lv 3

Game Spells

Your chosen game grants you certain spells. You know the following spells and they do not count towards the number of spells you can prepare.

God of Fate

Fate Tempters like you have a relationship with a god of fate. You cannot change your decision later. Each deity has its pros and cons and you can conduct a daily ritual that takes 10 minutes to divine their mood for the day. Roll 1D6. After their mood has been divined any features remain until you diving their mood again or something alters their mood.

“Your enemies” refers to any creature within 300 ft that has ill will towards you. You are unaware if they are under the effect of any penalty or bonus.

Religious or More Superstitious

You are religious or at least superstitious. You have proficiency with Religion from your daily divinations and you learn Abyssal, Celestial, or Primordial.

Lv 7

Tempt Fate

You have developed a very…. familiar relationship with your deity as they are amused by your recklessness. You can attempt a DC 12 CHA check at the beginning of each day. On a success the mood shifts more positive (Neutral Mood to Good Mood) and on a failure the mood shifts more negative (Good Mood to Neutral Mood).

Dip Into Luck

You can take a little luck and lose a little luck on demand. You can use an action to increase your critical success rate by 1 (19-20 for example) for the next minute after, the next minute your critical failure rate is increased by 1 (1-2 for example).

You can use this feature times per long rest equal to your CHA modifier (Minimum 1).

Lv 15

Tipping the Scales, Forward

You can meddle with fate. If you would have a critical failure with an attack or saving throw you can change it to a critical success using your reaction. However, the next critical success with an attack or saving throw becomes a critical failure. You cannot use this effect again until your next critical failure with an attack or saving throw (Which must happen within real combat).

Tipping the Scales, Backward

You can meddle with the fate of others. If an enemy you can see within 60 ft of you has a critical success on an attack or saving throw you can change it to a critical failure using your reaction. However, their next critical failure on an attack or saving throw becomes a critical success. You can use this feature once per long rest and cannot use it again on a target that has not resolved the positive nature of this ability.
