Shaman
Shamans channel the powers of their ancestors. As they continue their spiritual journey, they will eventually connect with a great and powerful ancestor who will use their power to shape their descendant’s fate and aid them. The connection they make through various rituals and soul searching unlocks more of their past and allows ancestors from long ago to aid them.
A Shaman may walk a lonely path in the physical sense but their ancestors are always watching over them. While performing the sacred art of Shamanism the Shaman will choose mentors who will teach them the skills they had in life. Even the recently deceased are willing to aid a Shaman who is willing to help them in return. Shamans deal with the dead as much if not more than they work with the living. At the height of their powers a Shaman can summon an avatar of a legendary ancestor who wishes to aid them.
The path a Shaman takes is as much a physical path as it is a spiritual one. Different areas and connections help inspire ancestors to reach out to aid you. The pleas of the dead can also call out to a Shaman asking them to seek them out and aid them. A Shaman may join a party as a means to learn who they wish to mentor them from the other side and to be able to aid more of the restless dead.

Class Features
Spellcasting
WIS is your spellcasting ability for your Shaman spells. Your magic comes from channeling connections from your ancestors. You use your WIS whenever a spell refers to your spellcasting ability. In addition, you use your WIS modifier when setting the saving throw DC for a Shaman spell you cast and when making an attack roll with one.
Spell save DC = 8 + your Proficiency Bonus + your WIS modifier
Spell attack modifier = your Proficiency Bonus + your WIS modifier
Choose a number of spells from any class that are not limited to a single class (Such as a Paladin’s Divine Smite) equal to your WIS modifier (Minimum 1) + half your Shaman level, rounded down (Minimum 1). The spells must be of a level for which you have spell slots.
When you gain a level in this class, you can choose one of the spells you know and replace it with another appropriate spell, which also must be of a level for which you have spell slots.
Tutored by the Ancestors
Your ancestors reached out and taught you many things. You learn a total of three skills and/or languages.
Shamanism
You have a special connection to the dead. As you help them move on and honor them, they teach you the skills they knew in life. Once per long rest you can touch a deceased creature that has died within one week and gain proficiency with one skill, language, tool, or learn one spell it knew in life. You can only have one piece of knowledge at a time, when you learn a new one, you forget the old one. If you do not share a language with the target the creature will only be able to communicate feelings of sadness and regret.
You can check the knowledge of the recently deceased to evaluate any potential skills. You can analyse the knowledge of the deceased times per long rest equal to your WIS modifier (Minimum 1) by making a DC 14 Religion check. If you fail the Religion check the deceased simply tells you the skill they used most in life.
Aid from the Ancestors
Your Ancestors have a variety of skills that you can channel. You can cast the spell Enhance Ability times per long rest without expending a spell slot equal to your WIS modifier (Minimum 1).
Mentor
You select an ancestor to be your mentor. Choose Full Caster, Half Caster, or Melee. You gain a corresponding feat from them.
Shamanic Connection
You tap into the powers of an ancestor and become adept at channeling it. Your connection gives you features at levels 3, 5, 6, 10, 14, and 17.
