Overlord
The Overlords were imprisoned within the body of the deity: the Silver Flame after they were defeated by an army of Dragons and imprisoned in the demiplane of madness by the sacrifice of many Couatls. The god The Silver Flame maintains these barriers and they cannot be broken while he lives. Crystals called Kyber crystals are remnants of the plane and their power. Overlords manifest their power from within their prisons in the form of sentient items.
Rak Tulkesh, the Rage of War
The incarnation of the feelings that drive mortals to battle. He was imprisoned in Khyber shards that contain his essence. Acts of violence committed near Khyber shards give him power.
Manifestation: A Slashing weapon made of kyber crystal. He communicates through emotion, almost exclusively in waves of rage and frustration. It seeks to promote violence and death in all it does, it is needy and unrepentant. The item seeks to be engorged with the blood of those slain in battle and will not go dormant until it has been satiated (On each successful hit, roll 1D20, and after 3 rolls of 15+ it goes dormant and can be wielded like an ordinary weapon). If you sleep or fall Unconscious without it being dormant it will take over your body when you are Unconscious. It will only be sheathed out of combat in its owner’s own flesh.
Sul Khatesh, the Queen of Darkness
She embodies the fear and superstition surrounding magic. Practitioners of magic can hear her whispers, driving them to master spells and create items beyond their normal scope of ability.
Manifestation: A staff with a lump of khyber crystal on its top. It can speak in Common, Primordial, and Abyssal. She drives you to go beyond your limits and to promote fear of magic. She speaks in hushed whispers, sounding like a motherly woman whose words could not be further from motherly. If that staff leaves your hands you take 1D6 Psychic damage every 1D4 hours until you die or hold it again.
Bel Shalor, the Shadow in the Flame
He embodies treachery, evil, and chaos. His power is proportional to the amount of strife and treason in the world. If he is released the world has only a matter of weeks. His presence makes people pale and shaky even as they seek to kill each other. You seek to slay those that follow the Silver Flame without fail.
Manifestation: A gauntlet embedded with kyber shards. The gauntlet is embedded in your flesh and the only way to free yourself of it is to cut off the hand or to use a Wish spell or through divine intervention. It communicates through emotions, mainly feelings of desperation and anxiety. It creates a need, a hunger to corrupt followers of the Silver Flame.
Eldran Tulku, the Oathbreaker
A spirit of discord who encourages betrayal, ambition, jealousy, and paranoia. He delights in turning close friends and allies against one another. He prefers using rogues and sorcerers.
Manifestation: A ring with a setting of kyber crystal. The ring is linked to your soul. It talks to you in Deep Speech and Common. It speaks in a low, oily voice urging you to betray and trust no one.
The Horned Prince
He is worshiped by minotaurs although he allows them to believe in different aspects of him and fight amongst themselves.
Manifestation: A horned helm lined with khyber shards. The helmet’s horns burrow into your brain and removing it will cause instant death. He speaks Abyssal and Common. His gravelly voice commands respect and demands violence. He seeks to raise a champion to free him from his prison and all of his followers seek to fight one another until the strongest emerges.
Katashka, the Gatekeeper
He is the overlord of undeath. When he is released he is said to bring about the age of the worms. He manifests himself as a massive skeletal being wielding a scythe. At his height of power he declared himself the master of the gates of life and death.
Manifestation: A key carved from kyber crystal. The key will appear on the person of someone different each 12th morning and you must find and kill that person or be killed yourself. The person will be within a quarter mile of your bed. It speaks telepathically in all languages to those that hold it, telling them in a dry, dusty voice of the wonders of a world where he is free.
Masvirik, the Cold Sun
He once ruled over reptilians and now he is imprisoned on an island guarded by the Dragonlord Rhashaak. He is constantly fighting to take over the dragon-god.
Manifestation: A suit of scale mail with three pieces of kyber crystal near your heart that burrow in. You cannot take this armor off without dying. It gives you resistance to Acid or Necrotic damage. He can speak common and Draconic, he speaks as an authoritative, cold individual who expects his orders to be fulfilled and does not understand emotion. You are driven to undermine Tiamat and Rhashaak.
Ran Lishiv, the Unmaker
His form and true extent of power is unknown. He is a mysterious being who keeps to himself and rarely trusts followers to seek him out.
Manifestation: a compass with the north point being constructed of a khyber shard. It communicates through emotion, mainly feelings of dread and ecstasy. You are driven to find his hidden location.
Sakinnirot, the Scar that Abides
He is the overlord of spite and patient rage. He is buried underneath the great city of Stormreach and he delights in allowing civilizations to grow and then crumble. He dislikes the Rage of War. He always has had the smallest cult and is virtually unknown except among Rakshasas. He has vowed to erase anyone who reveals his name or plans.
Manifestation: A spectacle or monocle with a lens of kyber crystal that allows you to see the Alignment of creatures within 30 ft of you (Neutral being grey toned, Good being blue toned, Evil being red toned, Lawful being bright, and Chaotic being dark). He communicates through emotions, he conveys his intent through feelings of distrust and suspicion. He wants the civilization to rise and fall one more time in order to gain enough power to break his bonds.
The Stalker in the Darkness
He is a mystery and enjoys being a complete enigma. Normally he is calm and collected but can become angry if information about him is not contained. But it is said that a certain Rakshasa knows of his secret location and is working to free him.
Manifestation: A necklace with a setting of kyber crystal. He speaks in Common and Primordial, he whispers in a silky smooth voice the deepest desires of your heart along with awful truths. Your task is to destroy literature and people who know anything about him.
The Spinner of Shadows
She feigns powerlessness and ignorance in many areas as she whispers from her prison. She is secretly attended to by Drow and select Demons as she waits to once again spin her webs of shadow.
Manifestation: A simple loom with a spindle made of kyber crystal. She speaks in Elvish and Abyssal, she sounds like an innocent female child, asking for “favors” and “presents.” She seeks to stamp out those that would betray the knowledge of her growing power and influence. She produces a cloth that takes two weeks to make one yard of cloth that gives a +2 bonus to Stealth checks and a +3 bonus to Stealth checks in Darkness. It would take six weeks to make a suit of Padded armor of this material.
Malathar, the Keeper of Secrets
Malathar is a cat-like fiend imprisoned alongside a powerful unnamed Couatl and the essence of a fallen Dragongod known as the Storm Dragon. Legend says these three powers can be used to create the Dragon Forge, an artifact of mass destruction capable of destroying worlds.
Manifestation: Each speaks abyssal, draconic, and celestial. Malathar wants to become the Dragon Forge and destroy the world and wants you to kill and kill more. The Couatl wants to remain sealed and wants you to heal and undermine the other personalities' machinations. Storm Dragon wants to be freed and for you to close the distance between you and the prison at all costs. At the beginning of each day roll 1D6 to see who is in control.
The Wild Heart (Shapeshifting race exclusive)
He is associated with lycanthropes. His location, form, and true powers are unknown. Only a single Rakshasa is aware of his location and guards jealousy, waiting upon his master’s word.
Manifestation: A belt with 3 inset kyber crystals that imbeds itself in your flesh. He communicates through emotion. Mainly feelings of reckless anger and a drive to push yourself. You are to find the chosen Rakshasa and receive further instruction.
Tul Oreshka, the Truth in the Darkness
She is the keeper of the heinous truths of demonkind. She radiates madness around her and hearing one of her truths results in madness. She cannot lie but will happily and maliciously dance around the truth.
Manifestation: A helm with 7 khyber shards embedded on it. She communicates telepathically in Common and Deep Speech. Her voice is silky and cold. She will whisper 3 truths to you when you need them. You have heard one and it left you with a permanent level of Madness (Discuss with your DM to determine the nature of this truth). After the last truth you have one week before you die.
